Whatever is true, honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God's word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute. Think continually on these things by centering your mind on them, implanting them in your heart. (Philippians 4:8)This calls for a deliberate choice to dwell on positive, virtuous, and uplifting things, rather than negativity and harmful thoughts. Focusing our attention on those things that reflect God's character and on those things that come from God's word.
Your word I have treasured and stored in my heart, That I may not sin against You. (Psalm 119:11)
Since we have confidence and full freedom to enter the Holy Place [the place where God dwells] by [means of] the blood of Jesus, by this new and living way which He initiated and opened for us through the veil [as in the Holy of Holies], that is, through His flesh, and since we have a great and wonderful Priest [Who rules] over the house of God, let us approach [God] with a true and sincere heart in unqualified assurance of faith, having had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:19-22)
Now the mind of the flesh is death [both now and forever—because it pursues sin]; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace [the spiritual well-being that comes from walking with God—both now and forever]. (Romans 8:6) Putting off old behaviors and attitudes while adopting new ones that align with a desired moral or spiritual standard. Be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude], and put on the new self [the regenerated and renewed nature], created in God’s image, [godlike] in the righteousness and holiness of the truth [living in a way that expresses to God your gratitude for your salvation]. (Ephesians 3:23-24) He who believes in Me [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Me], as the Scripture has said, ‘From his innermost being will flow continually rivers of living water. Those who believe in and follow Him will experience a spiritual outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This "living water" represents the refreshing and life-giving presence and power of the Holy Spirit. (John 7:38) Those with God's Spirit can understand the truths revealed by God, including Christ crucified for human sinfulness. God's Spirit makes it possible for us to understand and believe spiritual things. We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. (1 Corinthians 2:12-13)
