What is Required in Him...

Has it not been told thee, what is good: What He requires of us is this: to diligently practice kindness and compassion; to treasure the LORD's gracious love; to live obediently before Him; to live in constant fellowship with Him; to act justly and promote justice, and to walk humbly with your God.

I have shown you, the thing that is useful that you may seek LORD for yourself. (Micah 6:8)

And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God by walking in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD that I am giving you this day for your own good? (Deuteronomy 10:12-13)

Finally, all of you, be like-minded and sympathetic, love as brothers, be tenderhearted and humble. (1 Peter 3:8) Thus has the LORD of hosts said, Dispense true justice and practice kindness and compassion, to each other,

and do not oppress or exploit the widow or the fatherless, the stranger or the poor; and do not devise or even imagine evil in your hearts against one another. (Zechariah 7:9-10)

To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

Evil people are proud and arrogant, but sin is the only crop they produce. (Proverbs 21:3-4)

Has the LORD as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices As in obedience to the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed [is better] than the fat of rams. (1 Samuel 15:22)

The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

The way [of life] of the wicked is hateful and exceedingly offensive to the LORD, But He loves one who pursues righteousness [personal integrity, moral courage and honorable character]. (Proverbs 15:8-9) Let us not love [merely in theory] with word or with tongue [giving lip service to compassion], but in action and in truth [in practice and in sincerity, because practical acts of love are more than words. (1 John 3:18)

My sacrifice is a humble spirit.

The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit. You will not despise a broken and contrite humbled heart. (Psalm 51:17)

Seek the LORD [search diligently for Him and regard Him as the foremost necessity of your life], All you humble of the land Who have practiced His ordinances and have kept His commandments; Seek righteousness, seek humility [regard them as vital]. Perhaps you will be hidden [and pardoned and rescued] In the day of the LORD’S anger. (Zephaniah 2:3)
