Walk and Live in His Truth

Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually]. For I was greatly pleased when [some of the] brothers came [from time to time] and testified to your [faithfulness to the] truth [of the gospel message], that is, how you are walking in truth. I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my [spiritual] children are living [their lives] in the truth. (3 John 1:2-4)

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105) God's word guides our footsteps, His word shines the light on our path, and then we are able to walk in His ways and percepts in our lives. The word of God leads and guides us to walk in His truth. Jesus' way, truth, and life. One must be a hearer and doer of the word to walk in all the ways that God has commanded.

But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying God’s precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth]. (James 1:22) Hearers only listen to and know God's word but never live it out. Doers, on the other hand, listen, know, and obey. Teach me Your way, O LORD,

I will walk and live in Your truth;

Direct my heart to fear Your name [with awe-inspired reverence and submissive wonder].

I will give thanks and praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart;

And will glorify Your name forevermore. (Psalm 86:11-12) The truth which lives in our hearts and will be with us forever: Grace, mercy, and peace (inner calm, a sense of spiritual well-being) will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, in truth and love. I was greatly delighted to find some of your children walking in truth, just as we have been commanded by the Father. Loving and unselfishly seeking the best for one another. And this is love: that we walk in accordance with His commandments and are guided continually by His precepts. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should [always] walk in love. (2 John 1:2-6)
