Let Christ be first in your thoughts in the morning, and last in your thoughts at night.
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose and plan of God. My heart is overflowing with good news. I will direct my song to the king. My tongue is a pen for a skillful writer.
And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee.
The fruit of the [consistently] righteous is a tree of life, A righteous man affects the lives of others for good. And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season;
Its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity].
The wicked are not so, But they are like the chaff [worthless and without substance] which the wind blows away.
Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the LORD And whose hope and confident expectation is the LORD.
For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters, That spreads out its roots by the river; And will not fear the heat when it comes; But its leaves will be green and moist. And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought Nor stop bearing fruit.
Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.
Take hold of instruction; [actively seek it, grip it firmly and] do not let go. Guard her, for she is your life. To know [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction;
To discern and comprehend the words of understanding and insight,
To receive instruction in wise behavior and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness,
Righteousness, justice, and integrity.
The wise will hear and increase their learning,
And the person of understanding will acquire wise counsel and the skill [to steer his course wisely and lead others to the truth]. The wise in heart will be called understanding. The sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.--Power to express the thoughts in graceful language adds greatly to the value of learning. Those who are gracious in speech shall receive much instruction from what they bear. Such a one augments knowledge in others, and in himself too, for he learns by teaching. Knowledge ought not to be buried in one's own mind, but produced and in suitable words for the edification of others.
The heart of the wise will discern the things which proceed from his own mouth; and on his lips he will wear knowledge.
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweet and delightful to the soul and healing to the body.
Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be [in the meantime] in holy behavior [that is, in a pattern of daily life that sets you apart as a believer] and in godliness [displaying profound reverence toward our awesome God].
Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always.
