Give Thanks

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.

His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of gods.

His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the Lord of lords:

His love endures forever.

to him who alone does great wonders,

His love endures forever.

who by his understanding made the heavens,

His love endures forever.

who spread out the earth upon the waters,

His love endures forever.

who made the great lights—

His love endures forever.

the sun to govern the day,

His love endures forever.

the moon and stars to govern the night;

His love endures forever. (Psalm 136:1-9) Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. God's essence and character are the epitome of goodness and righteousness. Because God is so good, we are to give thanks. Everything might not always turn out as you'd hoped, but regardless of what you see around you, what God has done for you is a reason to give thanks. Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].

Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. (1Corinthians 13:7-8) God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.

We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. (1John 4:16) Give thanks to the LORD, because he is good; his love is eternal. (1Chronicles 16:34)
