In the days of His earthly life, Jesus offered up both [specific] petitions and [urgent] supplications [for that which He needed] with fervent crying and tears to the One who was [always] able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverent submission toward God [His sinlessness and His unfailing determination to do the Father’s will]. (Hebrews 5:7) His obedient response, in submission to the Father, Jesus, the new Adam, overcame the sin of the first Adam, whose disobedience brought sin and death into the world. He provided the Ten Commandments, a host of other laws, consequences, and instructions for living for His people. We are saved by grace through faith, so it must mean we should walk daily by grace through faith. We need to develop a daily walk of dependency on God. No matter how good it sounds or how harmless it seems, it will eventually leave us empty. Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in [union with] Him [reflecting His character in the things you do and say--living lives that lead others away from sin], having been deeply rooted [in Him] and now being continually built up in Him and [becoming increasingly more] establishe in your faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing in it with gratitude. (Colossians 2:6-7) With your unfailing love you lead the people you have redeemed. In your might, you guide them.(Exodus 15:13)

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. (Ephesians 6:10)No human power alone can stop the devil's schemes, but God can and has already disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities [those supernatural forces of evil operating against us], He made a public example of them [exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through the cross. (Colossians 2:15)
