Don't retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it.

“Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46:10) Our Lord is not tied to calendars and time, His promise to the elect is a sure thing that will come to pass. To glorify God is to recognize God for who He really is and to respond appropriately. Further, living a Holy life, even when faced with evil, is a witness to those who persecute us.

Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak]. (Ephesians 4:29)

Finally, all of you be like-minded [united in spirit], sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted [courteous and compassionate toward each other as members of one household], and humble in spirit; and never return evil for evil or insult for insult [avoid scolding, berating, and any kind of abuse], but on the contrary, give a blessing [pray for one another’s well-being, contentment, and protection]; for you have been called for this very purpose, that you might inherit a blessing [from God that brings well-being, happiness, and protection]. (1Peter 3:8-9) No one should have anything that they can bring against you that is being displayed in your life. Others are to see our faith lived out, on a day-to-day basis, recognizing that we do good. Live in a way that lines up with God's will, instructions and principles, above reproach before foolish people. It is God's will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. Integrity muzzles the mouths of the critics, integrity will restrain them every time.

For it is the will of God that by doing right you may silence (muzzle, gag) the [culpable] ignorance and irresponsible criticisms of foolish people. (1Peter 2:15) God's will is the union of all things in heaven and on earth. Those who walk in the light should not be foolish but instead know what the will of the Lord is. Someone who does not seek God's will, does not see things in their true light. Such a person does not make wise use of his understanding.

Therefore do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is. (Ephesians 5:17)

God's ultimate will is the advancement of his kingdom and the salvation and sanctification of his children through his son, Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:9).

Focus on your life and your teaching. Continue to do what I've told you; persevere in these things [hold to them], for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you. (1Timothy 4:16) God's will for your life isn't a separate plan from his will for his kingdom. Listening to God, His word, and the voice of the Holy Spirit. Following God's directions, you'll be blessed, saved, watched over, taken care of, given what you ask for, and lack nothing good.

It is for this that we labor and strive [called to give account], because we have fixed our [confident] hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe [in Him, recognize Him as the Son of God, and accept Him as Savior and Lord]. (1Timothy 4:10)
