For the sake of the Lord, we are called to go about our work with all their heart. It is an issue of character and of the fear of God. It is not ultimately the master for which they labor, but God himself. (Colossians 3:23) Wiith Christ-like character, with honesty, with diligence, with integrity, with humility; our work is driven by our Father's character and his commands. He makes it clear “to set your minds on things that are above” The priorities of God's kingdom in the midst of everyday life.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:2)
Does it seem but a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them. You and all your company are gathered together against the LORD; but as for Aaron, who is he that you murmur against him? (Number 16:9,11) Numbers reveals how God reminded Israel that He does not tolerate rebellion, complaining, and disbelief without invoking consequences.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. ( Mark 10:45) Be hospitable to one another without complaint. This command is rooted in the attitude of God toward us. No part of human existence remains untouched by the loving and liberating rule of Jesus.
Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor. ( 1Peter 4:9-10) Use them well to serve one another.
We must keep loving each other, using God's gifts to serve each other with God's power in and through us, so all the glory goes to Him. Growing in faith, hope and love results in a grace and peace from God the Father evidenced by love for one another in the Spirit. Beyond all these things put on and wrap yourselves in [unselfish] love, which is the perfect bond of unity [for everything is bound together in agreement when each one seeks the best for others]. ( Colossians 3:14)
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another.
With God's help and encouragement, everyone in the church can live together in harmony and glorify God with one, unified voice, as they serve each other ahead of themselves. They must welcome each other as Christ has welcomed them.
Now may the God who gives endurance and who supplies encouragement grant that you be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus. (Romans 15:5)
