Jesus requires his disciples to take a childlike posture because of children's lowly and humble status. Whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Having faith like a child requires putting aside our will, trusting Christ wholeheartedly. We are willingly humbling ourselves under the hand of God. Humility and self-sacrifice are high virtues within the kingdom of God; it is childlike humility that matters. The greatest one, is the one who humbles himself like a little child.
Be humble in the presence of God's mighty power, and he will honor you when the time comes. (1Peter 5:6) Those who submit to God in salvation will naturally respond with an attitude of mercy towards others. Our trust in God's goodness allows us to live with this mystery.
Jesus is the Mercy of God made human. He didn't just teach God's mercy in our lives but he himself was, and is, the mercy of God to us.
We should never be slow to forgive even the smallest infractions committed against us.
Those who follow Christ should have mercy on each other, even for the painful wrongs done to us, as God has had mercy on us for our debt of sin against Him. The way to eternal life is narrow and that those who enter into the kingdom of heaven are those who do the will of Father in Heaven. Blessed [content, sheltered by God’s promises] are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. (Matthew 5:7) For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you, whatever we do unto others could turn as a blessing or a curse. Lord as we seek, save souls from eternal bondage, by enlightening hearts and minds to the truth of your being. Be merciful (responsive, compassionate, tender) just as your [heavenly] Father is merciful.
(Luke 6:36)
Jesus has warned His disciples that He has come to bring a sword of division in Israel.
He answered, The one who showed compassion and mercy to him. Jesus told him, "Go and imitate his example!" (Luke 10:37) If a person loves his neighbour as himself, he will act kindly towards anyone that he happens to meet, even enemies. Blessed [with wisdom and prosperity] is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O LORD,
And whom You teach from Your law,
That You may grant him [power to calm himself and find] peace in the days of adversity,
Until the pit is dug for the wicked and ungodly.
For the LORD will not abandon His people,
Nor will He abandon His inheritance.
For judgment will again be righteous,
And all the upright in heart will follow it. ( Psalm 94:12-15) Physical death is [actively] at work in us, but [spiritual] life [is actively at work] in you.
Yet we have the same spirit of faith as he had, who wrote in Scripture, “I BELIEVED, THEREFORE I SPOKE.” We also believe, therefore we also speak, knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and will present us [along] with you in His presence. For all [these] things are for your sake, so that as [God’s remarkable, undeserved] grace reaches to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of [our great] God. (2Corinthians 4:12-15) For the one who sows to his flesh [his sinful capacity, his worldliness, his disgraceful impulses] will reap from the flesh ruin and destruction, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in. So then, while we [as individual believers] have the opportunity, let us do good to all people [not only being helpful, but also doing that which promotes their spiritual well-being], and especially [be a blessing] to those of the household of faith (born-again believers). ( Galatians 6:6-10) And how those in Christ should treat each other, through the power of God's Spirit. Only those who plant God's Spirit in this life, through faith in Christ, will harvest eternal life.
May the good will of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters! Amen (Galatians 6:18)
