To have a single-minded devotion to God because nothing else matters since God knows our every intention. There is no pretending with God.
As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father [have personal knowledge of Him, be acquainted with, and understand Him; appreciate, heed, and cherish Him] and serve Him with a blameless heart and a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and minds, and understands every intent and inclination of the thoughts. If you seek Him [inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him as your first and vital necessity] He will let you find Him; but if you abandon (turn away from) Him, He will reject you forever. ( 1Corinthians 28:9)
And you shall love the Lord your God from your whole heart. ( Matthew 22:37) The heart is considered the seat of life or strength. Hence, it means mind, soul, spirit, or one's entire emotional nature and understanding. Your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23) Keeping our heart; meaning watch over, cultivate, and protect it. It is a wise expression to keep in your mind. In order to keep our heart, we must know the vitality of God's word. Do not let your heart be troubled (afraid, cowardly). Believe [confidently] in God and trust in Him, [have faith, hold on to it, rely on it, keep going and] believe also in Me. (John 14:1)
For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts. For the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. ( 1Samuel 16:7) Our heart is part of our being. Our heart is a composition of all three components of our soul, our mind, emotion, and will the most important part of our spirit—our conscience. For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [in behavior]. ( Proverbs 23:7)
Blessed [anticipating God’s presence, spiritually mature] are the pure in heart [those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character], for they will see God. ( Matthew 5:8)
Jesus says “pure in heart,” which is referring to internal purity, once again showing His concern with our heart's position. Speaking to our external lives because He knows that our hearts must first be changed. Kingdom people must have purity of mind, purity of will, and purity of desire. To renew a right spirit within your heart to keep you intentionally determined to always honor the Lord. This is something we all should do daily unto the Lord. (Psalm 51:10) Help us Lord to be like Jesus, not the world. Lord, I trust that you will guide us and sustain us. Please give us the heart to be the person, friend and loved one You created us to be. We cease from doing things our way and we will learn to do them Your way instead. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
The night [this present evil age] is almost gone and the day [of Christ’s return] is almost here. So let us fling away the works of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light. (Romans 13:12)
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to what is false, Nor has sworn [oaths] deceitfully. (Psalm 24:4)
He who has clean hands and a pure heart. In other words, he who has integrity.
This person who enjoys God's presence is also one who speaks the truth. Not only are his actions and thoughts right, but his speech is as well.
Not to let it depart out of his mouth; that is, all his orders to the people, and his judgments upon appeals made to him, must be consonant to the law of God; upon all occasions he must speak according to this rule.
[Direct those people] to the law and to the testimony! If their teachings are not in accord with this word, it is because they have no dawn. (Isaiah 8:20) Those who will not hear the revealed word of God live in darkness. They reject the light and the light does not come. The day of their understanding of the truth never dawns. I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes and trusts in Me [as Savior—all those who anchor their hope in Me and rely on the truth of My message] will not continue to live in darkness. ( John 12:46)
Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
God’s Word tells us there are no excuses for the sinful behaviors taking place in our world today because the root of sinfulness is the rejection of God, of the truth He has revealed to every person on earth. For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defense. (Romans 1:20) But although there are no excuses, there is still hope. Hope because Jesus came into the world and, “In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind."
In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men. ( John 1:4)
