Colossians 3:3-4 Paul again observes that believers who are “in Christ” died with Him, but were also raised up with Him into new life. We are reconciled to God through the blood and death of Jesus Christ. Paul was a minister of Christ's gospel. Christ is all; you need no supplements! If you are in Christ, you've received God's fullness and have everything you need for living fully for Him.
Colossians 3 explores what it means to set your mind on things above, enabling us to experience the true joy the Father wants to lavish on us. Furthermore, when we set our eyes on Him, we are better able to serve him—and service is ultimately the duty and pleasure of every believer.
He preached the death, resurrection, and lordship of Jesus Christ, and he proclaimed that faith in Jesus guarantees a share in his life.
How to seek God's will for your life principles:
Surrender your personal desires. As you seek God's will, it's important to be sure you are fully open to whatever God wants.
Meditate on God's Word
and spend focused time in prayer.
We put God first when we worship Him, praise Him, thank Him, trust Him, and rely on Him rather than ourselves or anyone else. We seek God first when we go to Him for comfort, strength, and reassurance, acknowledging who He is and what He can do. God has a good plan for us.
“If you seek him, he will be found by you” (1 Chronicles 28:9)
It is an ongoing mindset and lifestyle of those who desire to know, love, and follow God. Being a believer is a process of seeking God, but only the first step, and the rest of one's life is to be spent drawing closer to Him.
What does it mean to give your heart and a willing mind to God? Giving our best effort and finest thinking and seeking God's wisdom. It means that there must be an inextricable relationship between hearing the word of God and obeying it.
Seeking the Lord with all of our heart means that we, God's people, should turn from our wicked ways and give everything to God and put him first. Paul exhorted the Colossian Saints to cease from unrighteousness and develop the characteristics of Jesus Christ.
In this chapter, Paul gives clear instructions to believer's about living out faith in Christ. Since believers have been saved by Christ, they should not participate in the sins which trap unbelievers. Sexual immorality, jealousy, slander, and revenge are not to be part of the believer's life.
Compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, and love. The beautiful thing about our Creator is that He will only ask us to clothe ourselves with virtues that are at the center of who He is.
My God, we know that we have died and that our life is hid with Christ. He holds the outcome of our life wholly in his hands; he is our life. Grant that we may wait patiently yet expectantly, knowing that when he appears, we will also appear with him in glory. AMEN The Lord means for us to guard our hearts by filtering our emotions, desires, thoughts, and responses through his Word. He is the watchman that protects our souls. And what's his primary means of defense? The sword of Scripture: Keep your heart with all vigilance for from it flow the springs of life.” Heart, therefore, means the command center of the soul; the mind, will, and affections. Proverbs 4:23 We guard our hearts by filling our mind with God's Word regularly, proactively filtering what our mind consumes, and by praying for wisdom and help from God. Lord, help us to guard our hearts at all times, because according to You, Lord, it is the wellspring of life. And help us, oh Lord, to understand that out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.
The [intrinsically] good man produces what is good and honorable and moral out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart; and the [intrinsically] evil man produces what is wicked and depraved out of the evil [in his heart]; for his mouth speaks from the overflow of his heart. Luke 6:45
For where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also. Matthew 6:21
