The Call to Holiness

Striving to live according to God's standards and resisting temptation in moral purity and righteousness.

Try to live peacefully with everyone, and try to live holy lives, because if you don't, you will not see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14)

“There is no one holy like the LORD, There is no one besides You, There is no Rock like our God." ( 1 Samuel 2:2) It is of great importance to live a life set apart and consecrated to God.

To be holy means to be more like God, our separation is unto Him and His truth; so we naturally, separate ourselves from those things that are not like him. His word commands us to be holy, to respect our parents, to observe the Sabbath, and avoid idolatry. A call to holiness.

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God is holy. (Leviticus 19:1-2) Put on the new self [the regenerated and renewed nature], created in God’s image, [godlike] in the righteousness and holiness of the truth [living in a way that expresses to God your gratitude for your salvation]. (Ephesians 4:24)

We are called to pursue holiness, reflecting God's character in our lives. This involves being separated from sin and worldly influences and being dedicated to God's purposes. Holiness is a practical reality that shapes how we live, think, and interact with the world.

Obedience to God's Word is the key aspect of holiness and aligning one's actions and attitudes with God's revealed will.

But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves in all your conduct [be set apart from the world by your godly character and moral courage];

because it is written, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY (set apart), FOR I AM HOLY. (1 Peter 1:15-16) Since the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp to rescue you and to defeat your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be holy (undefiled); and He must not see anything indecent among you or He will turn away from you. (Deuteronomy 23:14)
