I am your shield;
Your reward [for obedience] shall be very great. (Genesis 15:1)
He is my God and my Savior, and the great place of my refuge, so that I shall not be moved. (Psalm 62:2) But let all who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice,
Let them ever sing for joy;
Because You cover and shelter them,
Let those who love Your name be joyful and exult in You.
For You, O LORD, bless the righteous man [the one who is in right standing with You];
You surround him with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12)
And I say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades (death) will not overpower it [by preventing the resurrection of the Christ. (Matthew 16:18) Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. This declaration of faith will be the rock on which He will build His church. I will give you the keys (authority) of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth will have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth will have [already] been loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:19) And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. (Romans 8:28) Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.
Serve the LORD with gladness and delight;
Come before His presence with joyful singing.
Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the LORD Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His].
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. (Psalm 100:1-2) You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend]. Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep." (John 21:17) Daily strength! Daily provision! Daily bread! If it is anything that we need in this life, it is in the word of God. It is how God reveals himself to us and how we are guided in this life, other than prayer. Give us this day our daily bread. (Matthew 6:11) This petition of the Lord's Prayer, teaches us to come to God in a spirit of humble dependence, asking Him to provide what we need and to sustain us from day to day; which is His Holy Word. This is necessary for life, and more broadly every good thing sufficient for subsistence. But He answering said, It has been written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word coming forth from the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4) God’s word is our sustenance. You can’t live without it. It is our source of life. Our lives depend on God's word. We cannot experience life apart from His word.
