He taught me and said to me, "Let your heart hold fast my words; Keep my commandments and live, and my law like the pupils of the eyes." (Proverbs 4:4)
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also, [that on which your life centers] will be also.
The eye is the lamp of the body; so if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive], your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts]. (Matthew 6:21-22)
The human spirit is the lamp of the LORD that sheds light on one’s inmost being. (Proverbs 20:27)
They show that the essential requirements of the Law are written in their hearts; and their conscience [their sense of right and wrong, their moral choices] bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or perhaps defending them,
on that day when, as my gospel proclaims, God will judge the secrets [all the hidden thoughts and concealed sins] of men through Christ Jesus. (Romans 2:15-16) Peace be to the brothers and sisters, and love joined with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen (Ephesians 6:23-24)
But you, beloved, build yourselves up on [the foundation of] your most holy faith [continually progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], pray in the Holy Spirit,
and keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously and looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ [which will bring you] to eternal life. (Jude 1:20-21)
Teaching us, that denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in the present age:
awaiting and confidently expecting the [fulfillment of our] blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus. (Titus 2:12-13)
And everyone who has this hope [confidently placed] in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure (holy, undefiled, guiltless).
So all people who have this confidence in Christ keep themselves pure, as Christ is pure. (1 John 3:3) In this [union and fellowship with Him], love is completed and perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him]; because as He is, so are we in this world. (1 John 4:17)
But [we are different, because] our citizenship is in heaven. And from there we eagerly await [the coming of] the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Philippians 3:20) Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:2-4)
