Daily Bread for Daily Life

"My food," Jesus said to them, is to obey the will of the one who sent me and to finish the work he gave me to do.(John 4:34) Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come,

Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. (Matthew 6:9-11) It is written and forever remains written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT COMES OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.' (Matthew 4:4) How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth!

From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. (Psalm 119:103-104)

My child, eat honey, for it is good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste.

Know that [skillful and godly] wisdom is [so very good] for your life and soul; If you find wisdom, then there will be a future and a reward, And your hope and expectation will not be cut off. (Proverbs 14:13-14) My son, if you will receive my words

And treasure my commandments within you,

So that your ear is attentive to [skillful and godly] wisdom,

And apply your heart to understanding [seeking it conscientiously and striving for it eagerly];

Yes, if you cry out for insight,

And lift up your voice for understanding;

If you seek skillful and godly wisdom as you would silver

And search for her as you would hidden treasures;

Then you will understand the [reverent] fear of the LORD [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome]

And discover the knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:1-5)

Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became a joy to me and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts. (Jeremiah 15:16) I have not left his commands behind. I have treasured his words in my heart. (Job 23:12)

Now yield and submit yourself to Him [agree with God and be conformed to His will] and be at peace; In this way [you will prosper and great] good will come to you, receive the law and instruction from His mouth And establish His words in your heart and keep them. (Job 22:21-22)

My son, keep my words

And treasure my commandments within you [so they are readily available to guide you].

Keep my commandments and live,

And keep my teaching and law as the apple of your eye. (Proverbs 7:1-2)

Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, even so the one who feeds on Me [believes in Me, accepts Me as Savior] will also live because of Me.

This is the Bread which came down out of heaven. It is not like [the manna that] our fathers ate and they [eventually] died; the one who eats this Bread [believes in Me, accepts Me as Savior] will live forever. (John 6:57:58)
