Christ Magnified

Certainly, all who are guided by God's Spirit are God's children. (Romans 8:14) See what an incredible quality of love the Father has shown to us, that we would [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, we are [even here and] now children of God, and it is not yet made clear what we will be [after His coming]. We know that when He comes and is revealed, we will [as His children] be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is [in all His glory]. And everyone who has this hope [confidently placed] in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure (holy, undefiled, guiltless) (1john 3:1-3) To shed our old selves - our former ways of thinking, behaving, and perceiving - and embrace a new self that is shaped by God's righteousness and holiness. And be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude]

and put on the new self [the regenerated and renewed nature], created in God’s image, [godlike] in the righteousness and holiness of the truth [living in a way that expresses to God your gratitude for your salvation]. (Ephesians 4:23-24) With a desire to accurately represent our Lord, he urged His followers to reflect the humility, self-sacrifice, and compassion of Jesus for others. The mind in which is the focus of Christ's life, which is humility. The attitude is to resemble the attitude of Christ.

Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility]. (Phillippians 2:5) May all those who seek You [as life’s first priority] rejoice and be glad in You;

May those who love Your salvation say continually. "Let God be magnified!”

(Psalm 70:4) O come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD; Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. (Psalm 95:1)
